Athens, GA (August 15, 2023) – After avoiding a terrible tragedy in Athens, a U.S. postal worker is probably counting their blessings. The driver of a USPS truck was struck by a huge tree on Tuesday, August 15th, around 2:30 p.m.
When the tree started to fall, the driver was turning around at the intersection of Bloomfield Street and Cloverhurst Avenue. Thankfully, the driver wasn’t hurt.
In order to clear the street and restore utilities, Athens-Clarke County Fire & Emergency Services was on the site inspecting the damage.
