Cobb County, Georgia (February 14, 2023) - According to Cobb County Police, an 18-year-old died after being ejected from a car in an accident over the weekend. Two more people, including another teen, were injured and taken to the hospital.

Cobb County Police responded to a crash on I-75 South, just south of Delk Road, around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The fatal accident shut down the interstate for several hours.

Two 18-year-olds were inside a Toyota Camry that was stopped in the fourth lane from the left on the interstate. According to police, a semi-truck pulling a 53-foot trailer was driving down the highway in the same lane. The preliminary investigation determined the tractor trailer ran into the back of the Camry, pushing the car across two lanes.

According to police, two teenagers in the Camry were ejected from the vehicle. The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, while the passenger died at the scene.

Cobb Police said the 56-year-old truck driver was taken to the hospital after complaining of minor injuries.

Investigators believe a mechanical issue may have contributed to this crash.

Fatal Car Accidents in Georgia

Automobile accidents that result in death are tragic occurrences that can have far-reaching consequences not only for individuals but also for their families and communities. A fatal car accident can be devastating to a family's emotional and financial well-being.

Intoxicated driving, distracted driving, excessive speeding, and reckless behavior are all factors that can lead to fatal car accidents. It is usually possible to avoid these types of collisions if traffic laws are followed, proper attention is paid to the road, and responsible driving is practiced.

When a person is killed in a car accident caused by the negligence of another driver, the surviving family has the legal right to sue the at-fault driver for wrongful death. The deceased's family will be able to seek justice in the form of monetary compensation for the loss of their loved one.

Although no amount of money can ever compensate for the loss of a loved one, the system is in place to assist the family in financially recovering from the tragic accident and to hold the negligent party accountable for their actions.

If someone you care about dies as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident, the first thing you should do is discuss what happened with an experienced Wrongful Death Lawyer. This will assist you in determining whether you have the legal right to file a claim for compensation.

Handling a wrongful death claim or negotiating with an insurance company on your own can be extremely difficult. If you do not have a lawyer on your side, the insurance company will either try to settle the case for the lowest possible amount or simply refuse to pay anything at all.

When you hire an attorney to help you with your claim, they will make certain that you are compensated for the following:

  • Funeral and burial expenses.
  • Any outstanding medical bills.
  • The loss of your loved one’s future income.
