Fulton County, GA – Two People in Critical Condition after 4 Car Pile-Up on I-285
Fulton County, Georgia (June 25, 2023) - According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, four vehicles were involved in the early Sunday morning crash that shut down all lanes of Interstate 295EB for several hours.
Police reported that there had already been an accident in the area, which had slowed traffic. At the scene of the first accident, an impaired driver rear-ended a construction vehicle, striking a North Perimeter Contractors worker and an off-duty Morehouse College School of Medicine police officer.
Both are in critical condition at local hospitals. Officials said the officer is now stable, however, the contractor worker's injuries are life-threatening.
The impaired driver who caused the accident sustained non-life threatoning injuries.
The driver was arrested and turned over to the Sandy Springs Police Department. The Georgia State Patrol has been tasked with conducting an investigation into the DUI.
