Macon, GA – Man Killed in Hit-And-Run Collision After Trying to Cross I-16 on Foot
Macon, Georgia (April 5, 2023) - According to officials, a man died in a hit-and-run accident after attempting to cross the Interstate 16 and Interstate 75 interchange in Macon early Wednesday.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the man, whose age and name were not released, was walking in the westbound lanes of I-16 near I-75 northbound near downtown Macon when he was hit by a car at about 2:15 a.m.
Bibb deputy coroner said that the man died at the scene. As of Wednesday morning, his next of kin had not been notified.
The statement did not specify why the man was crossing the interstate or whether he was from Macon. The driver who struck him fled the scene and has yet to be identified.
