Marietta, GA – Pick-Up Truck Driver Hits Pedestrian and Drives Off
Marietta, Georgia (June 5, 2023) - According to Marietta police, a 40-year-old man is fighting for his life after being hit by a driver late Sunday night.
That driver, who investigators believe to have been in a 1995 white Ford F-150, struck the pedestrian and then drove off, leaving that man in the street.
It happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Delk Road near the Interstate 75 overpass.
Thankfully, good Samaritans stopped and assisted the victim.
The victim was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.
An officer said that Sunday was a dangerous day on Marietta's roadways.
In addition to the pedestrian hit-and-run, there were two multi-vehicle accidents that occurred just minutes apart shortly before 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The first collision occurred just before the S Loop on I-75's southbound lanes. According to officials, all but one lane was closed while crews worked on clearing the scene.
The second collision occurred on the South Marietta Parkway's S Loop, just east of I-75. The majority of the westbound lanes had been closed due to this accident.
The officer stated that it seemed as if many drivers have become a lot more daring and distracted as of late.
