Mountain City, GA – Head-On Collision Kills One and Injurers Several
Mountain City, GA (December 10, 2022) - A head-on collision that occurred in Mountain City, GA, claimed the life of one man and left several other people injured.
Around 6:30 in the evening, a collision occurred on U.S. 441 and Georgia 15, in Mountain City, at the intersection of North Johnson Avenue.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a blue 2003 Ford Focus sedan driven by a 40-year-old male from Clayton, Georgia, was headed north and attempted to pass vehicles in the left lane before crossing into the left southbound lane.
The front of the vehicle collided head-on with a gray 2013 Ford Explorer that was being driven southbound by a 34-year-old woman from Lakemont.
The driver of the Ford Focus suffered injuries to the chest, head and feet and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The passenger in the Ford Focus died from his injuries.
Georgia State Patrol reported that three passengers in the Ford Explorer were injured as well. A 15-year-old girl from Lakemont suffered colon and hip injuries; an 11-year-old girl from Lakemont complained of neck and back pain, and a 25-year-old male from Rabun Gap complained of injuries to his head and hand but was not transported to the hospital.
The girls were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Georgia State Patrol reported that charges are pending for the driver of the Ford Focus.
