South Fulton, GA – Officials Concerned as Fatal Crashes Spike
South Fulton, GA (November 7, 2022) - In 2021, there were 22 fatal crashes in the City of South Fulton. But so far, in 2022, auto accidents have claimed the lives of 41 people.
Two of the fatal accidents that occurred in this area in October happened at the intersection of Old National Highway and Burdett Road.
More fatal accidents have occurred over the past few months, according to the City of South Fulton Fire Chief, which is a trend that they do not like to see.
The Fire Chief stated that in the previous week, there have been three separate accidents resulting in five fatalities. The majority of these accidents all occurred due to drivers not adhering to the speed limit.
Another problematic intersection is the one at Jonesboro and Bethsaida Roads, which has seen its fair share of fatal car accidents over the years.
One resident stated, “It’s kind of a little bit scary. I really wish there would be a light. This intersection is actually crazy. Cars come flying by, and half the time, they’re not even on the street because of the curve.”
Another dangerous location is Old National Highway, which has already seen eight fatal accidents so far this year.
The Fire Chief stated that they already see a lot of single-car crashes and weather-related accidents.

The City of South Fulton will launch a new billboard campaign pleading with drivers to slow down.
