Acworth, Georgia (March 28, 2023) - A motorcyclist who led authorities on a high-speed chase across county lines died Monday night after colliding with a car.
The accident occurred near Cobb Parkway and Acworth Summit Boulevard.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the motorcyclist was speeding up to the intersection when he collided with a Honda Accord making a left turn.
The male motorcycle driver died at the scene. The Honda driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
GSP says troopers were assisting the Bartow County Sheriff's Office in pursuing two motorcycle drivers who were racing on GA 3 near Mockingbird Road prior to the crash. Troopers pursued one of the riders, who continued driving "recklessly" into Cobb County.
The identity of the motorcycle rider who was killed has not been released by authorities.
Motorcycle accidents are among the most serious and potentially fatal types of vehicle collisions.
Motorcycles lack the same safety features as other vehicles, and most motorcycle accidents happen at high speeds. Motorcycle accident victims who do not die frequently suffer from severe neck and back injuries, broken bones, and head injuries.
When the negligence of another driver causes a motorcycle accident, the victim has the legal right to seek restitution for their losses. If a motorcyclist is killed in an accident, the family of the deceased can sue the other driver for wrongful death if the other driver was at fault.
If you want to file a claim for personal injury or wrongful death, you should speak with an attorney who has previously handled similar cases.
