Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Anyone traveling along a sidewalk or roadway without a vehicle is considered a pedestrian. This usually refers to people on foot, such as a jogger, a student walking to school, or anyone out for a walk. People in wheelchairs and small children riding tricycles or scooters are also included. A pedestrian is anyone on the road who is not driving a motorized vehicle.
Pedestrian accidents are extremely dangerous. They are more serious than other types of accidents because a car, even when moving slowly, can cause significant damage to an unprotected person. Almost all pedestrian accidents cause injuries, and many even lead to death.
The law treats pedestrian accidents similarly to motor vehicle accidents. Victims have the right to recover the full cost of their medical bills as well as any other damages incurred as a result of the accident.
The specifics of who is at fault in a car accident will depend on what happened, and each case will be different.
