Atlanta, Georgia (March 20, 2023) - An SUV and an ambulance collided on a southwest Atlanta road Monday afternoon, killing two people. Two more people were injured and taken to the hospital.
The accident occurred in the 4000 block of Campbellton Road. Just after 3 p.m.
The Pro Care EMS medical transport van was stopped in the middle of the road when first responders arrived. Its passenger-side door was shattered.
The SUV was lying on its side in the grass next to the road. It appeared to have collided with a tree.
Although it appeared that the airbags in both vehicles were deployed, Atlanta Police confirmed that the driver of the SUV and an occupant in the ambulance were killed as a result of the accident.
The ambulance driver and a patient inside were both injured and are receiving medical care.
It was confirmed by The Fulton County Medical Examiner that one of the victims was a 32-year-old ambulance company employee.
