Cowetta County, GA – Deputy Sustains Serious Injuries After Being Ejected From Vehicle During Crash

Coweta County, Georgia (April 10, 2023) - According to a Coweta County Sheriff, one of his deputies is recovering after a truck cut off his patrol car on the interstate, causing it to flip over and eject him.

It was a chain-reaction accident, according to the sheriff. The deputy suffered serious injuries, and another driver was killed. 

The 24-year-old deputy was ejected and ended up on the interstate. A truck driver pulled over and dragged him to safety. It was a good thing he did because the accident scene caused a series of collisions that killed one driver and almost certainly would have killed the vulnerable deputy who was lying on the pavement.

Witnesses said that a box truck cut off the deputy's vehicle and caused him to swerve.

According to the sheriff, the driver of a Toyota was unable to stop in time for the accident and collided with the back of a truck. He was killed. 

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating and looking for the box truck driver who is the reason for the multi-vehicle accident.

The Coweta County Sheriff's Office wishes to express its appreciation to the other truck driver who saved the deputy.
