Gainesville, GA – Man Killed and Nine Injured in a Fatal Car Accident
Gainesville, GA (October 17, 2022) - A two-vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday, October 15th in the evening in Clermont left one person dead and nine others injured. The fatality was a resident of Duluth.
The public information officer for the Hall County Sheriff's Office stated that deputies responded to the crash that occurred on U.S. 129 at Hulsey Road at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Both a Honda Odyssey minivan and a Honda Civic car were involved in the collision. According to the findings of an initial investigation conducted by the HCSO Accident Investigation Unit, the Civic was trying to pass other vehicles while it was traveling southbound on Cleveland Highway at the time of the collision with the Odyssey, which was traveling northbound on the same road.
The driver of the Honda Civic, a 33-year-old man from Duluth, passed away at the scene of the accident. All of the people who were inside the minivan, which included five adults and four children from Gainesville, were taken to local hospitals by ambulances from Hall County Fire Rescue and a rescue helicopter from Air Life.
As of Monday, October 17th, the investigation team was working to determine who the Duluth man's next of kin were.
