Thomasville, GA – 1 Dead, Several Injured After Car Crashes Through Walmart

Thomasville, Georgia (March 15, 2023) – According to the Thomasville Police Department, at least one person was killed when a vehicle drove through a Walmart on Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the Walmart Supercenter on the 15300 block of U.S. 19 North shortly after 11:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash and multiple injuries.

When Georgia State Patrol troopers arrived, they discovered a 2012 gray Toyota Camry that had crashed through the store’s entrance and exit.

Investigators identified the driver, who they say was speeding recklessly in the store’s parking lot.

The crash injured several people, including one man who died at the scene from his injuries. The identity of the victim has not been revealed.

According to authorities, the driver attempted to flee the scene of the accident but was apprehended by bystanders.

He is being held at Archbold Memorial Hospital on first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a license charges.

Around 12:22 p.m., the Walmart was closed to allow for an investigation into the incident.
